Ground Units are units that typically remain grounded. This means that their movements will be blocked by environmental walls, blocks, and other Ground Units, as well as colliding with projectiles that hit ground targets and drawing the attention of turrets that can fire them. They will also be affected by the status effect of the tile they are on and can drown in deep water tiles.

Although most Ground Units experience the above restrictions, some have special abilities to circumvent this. The Tier 1 to Tier 4 members of the Nova line are able to boost, which will make the unit airborne at the cost of disabling attacks while airborne. Many ground units contain enlarged legs that allow them to move across natural walls up to three tiles in width (i.e not completely blacked out), collide only with units that are on the same height level and climb over all other blocks.

Any unit that is able to hover above a payload-accepting block can enter it by attempting to control said block while possessed by the player.
